I went to Ferris State University and have a degree in dental hygiene and allied health sciences. In 2018, after taking some time off to be a stay-at-home mom to my two wonderful kids, I attended The Colorado Springs School of Massage.
In my career as a massage therapist, I have worked in a few different settings- a spa, a chiropractic office, and a med spa- and I took a little bit of what I learned in each setting and combined it into what is now Ataraxy- the relaxation of a spa, the advanced understanding of anatomy, bone structure, and physiology of a medical massage, and the high-end feel of a med spa.
I have always been very tactile (as I mentioned above). I have always been picky about my massages. I don’t know how to explain it other than giving massages I would want to receive. I can’t tell you how many times I have been so jealous of a person on my massage table! I primarily use an extended, muscle-stripping technique called neuromuscular massage. Basically, I treat your muscles like a nearly empty tube of toothpaste, squeezing from one end to the other. (It’s more relaxing than it sounds.) I give the massage that I want to receive because I know how beneficial a good massage has been to my physical and mental health over the course of my life, and it’s important for me to help you in your own physical and mental health journey.
I promise that you will leave feeling cared for. I will pay attention to what your body needs, physically and mentally.
I promise that you will leave feeling understood. You will leave feeling that I understood what you were discussing when describing your needs. “She gets me” yep. I do.
I promise that you will leave feeling heard. Listening to your massage goals is the most important thing to me.
“At 72, I have had over 50 massages in my life, probably more. On cruise ships, at private businesses, and even a spa in Egypt looking over the Red Sea. This was by far the best massage I have ever experienced.”
"I have chronic pain and an autoimmune condition and have tried several massage therapists in Traverse City. Jenna is by far the best I’ve found in the area. Her deep tissue relieves pain for several days and she’s always willing to make adjustments as needed. Highly recommend!"
“Jenna is the absolute best massage therapist I have ever worked with. She had the rare combination of being warm and friendly while also being super professional and skilled. I am so grateful to have found her!”
“She has the body of a Greek goddess and the hands of a Russian wrestler.”
